The hope for 4 Track Radar is to uncover underground music all over the
world. The pilot episode focuses on independent rock music in Los Angeles.

We hope to cover different music genres in different cities and explore the
artists who are making their lives out of the passion for what they love and
believe in.

Pilot Episode - 4 Track Radar - Los Angeles: Indie Rock

Los Angeles, known for it's glitzy stars and the Sunset Strip, has an
amazing music scene far from the bright lights of Hollywood. Breakthrough
Indie Rock artists such as Tom Waits and Elliott Smith have made their mark
on this genre, thus paving the way for many acts that call this city home.
Silver Lake and Echo Park host bands from all over the world. Fans that have
seen it all and heard it all fiercely follow acts that have eluded the
mainstream (purposefully or not). The discriminating ear often finds it's
way East of the 101 to smaller venues searching for something else,
something exciting and fresh. With recent broadcasts from groundbreaking
radio stations such as LA's Indie 103.1 (which has only scratched the
surface of what this genre means), independently produced and distributed
music is becoming more and more accessible to the LA audience each day. This
station may not meet the criteria of the every discriminating fan, but it's
most certainly a funnel in which most can agree plays a wide range of
artists, along with being partially responsible for breaking many local
acts.

Drama unfolds as the bands within this town vie for the attention of a
handful of bookers who perpetuate this scene for the local fans. The music
can be gritty and fun, real and retro, but always believable. The
undercurrent of Independent Rock in Los Angeles must be explored.

Kids all over the world as well as within our city have access to real and
intelligent rock music. This sub-culture is skeptical of over-produced,
excessively packaged, cookie-cutter art. Our goal is to document each city
impacting the Indie Rock genre on a whole, while showing the effects of this
genre within the scene we're currently exploring. Our desire is to educate
our audience regarding why this genre is important and call them to action.
